Descending Grace

This woman was the model for the portrait within the painting "Book and Cover" from the "Artists and their Art" series. In "Book and Cover" I was looking for the sophisticated lady. But man, did this lady know how to move! A wedding photographer once commented that a woman should bend every place that she can for a photo - turn up the curves! And that is exactly what Sharon did. So I couldn't resist giving her her own treatment in this painting.

From the technical side, this painting also offered me some fun with a limited palette. The moonlight coming in the skylights contrasted nicely with the interior artificial lighting to produce the yellow/violet complementary contrasts of this image. Instead of my typical full palette, the painting was produced using almost exclusively Ultramarine Violet, Naples Yellow, Venetian Red, and Titanium White.
